Retail Virtual Interview
We've developed a retail virtual interview which contains interview questions ranging from easy to killer that are typically asked of candidates in the retail industry. This interactive tool gives you the opportunity to test your answers in a safe environment so that when you are ready for the real thing, you can engage in a meaningful exchange rather than grope for a clumsy comeback.

Use your Holiday to Boost your Career
This is the time of year when most people take their main holiday. It's great to get a break from work, but are there ways in which you can actually use your holiday to help boost your career?
Here are some ideas
Letter of the Month
I was at a job fair a year ago with my 8 year old daughter and we visited the Monster stand. She was given one of your mascots, a little green monster who she named Freda! In the last year or so, this little monster has become a much-loved member of our family, however she is now rapidly falling apart! Would you mind contacting me to let me know how to get any more of these little green monsters? You would be making a little girl very, very happy!
Many thanks...Laura

Editors note: You'll be pleased to hear that we've posted a new green Monster to Laura's daughter.

Interview Advice

Monster Member catherinemo8885339 wrote: I recently resigned from my job because it was unbearable. I wasn't doing what I was recruited for and had no support from my manager. Eventually I got to the stage where I didn't want to go to work anymore and resigned. What should I say in an interview if I'm asked my reasons for leaving without another job to go to. Should I be honest?

Quick tip

Use a Qualifications Summary to Change Careers

If you're changing careers, consider using a combination CV, which is a reverse chronological CV that leads with a qualifications summary. You can use your Monster CV's Objective section for this purpose. The summary will allow you to emphasise your most related credentials so hiring managers can see you are qualified for your new goal. Also include a specific career goal so employers don't assume you want to stay in your current field.
